Dana Point

Dana Point

Dana Point is a relatively new city, incorporated in 1989, and has all the best attributes of coastal southern California with seven miles of sea cliffs and rolling hills. The remarkable headlands overlook Dana Point Harbor, which is a lively portside community. Here one can find the newly opened Ocean Institute, which has become nationally recognized for its environmental education and maritime history programs. Students from kindergarten through high school converge here to learn about oceanography, marine biology, and California history. To continue the maritime history, Dana Point is named after Richard Henry Dana Jr., who was a lawyer, sailor, adventurer and author of the classic novel Two Years Before the Mast. Come to Dana Point to experience a community that is committed to preserving oceanic and historic values through festivals and education.
