Mission Viejo is one of the largest master planned communities in the United States, and is nestled in the Saddleback Valley of southern Orange County. This suburban city is largely residential and according to the Morgan Quitno crime statistic survey, was dubbed to be the safest city in the US in 2007. The majority of the city consists of single family residential homes, a small number of condominiums, Saddleback community college, a shopping mall and Mission Hospital. Mission Viejo Lake is a private manmade lagoon at the center of the city, frequented by local residents. This city also has golf courses, baseball parks, bowling, and shopping centers.
